2021 Midwest Transition Institute for Youth who are DeafBlind

Zoom Sessions Each Tuesday 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. CST

Registration will open on 3/8/21 and close on 5/15/21

The annual Midwest Transition Institute is going virtual!

The Iowa and Nebraska Deafblind Projects are hosting the annual Midwest Transition Institute along with eight other State DeafBlind Projects.

Who can participate?

Any teen or young adult with deafblindness ages 16 through 22 and their parents/guardian. Participants must have both vision and hearing loss and a formal communication system.

What is the purpose of the Institute? Through the Institute, ten State DB Projects are supporting youth who Deafblind are including their families to participate in four zoom sessions. Each Session will cover an area of transition and will be engaging and meaningful to both parent and child. Parents and children will leave the institute with action plan steps towards transition.

  • July 6, 2021: Kick-Off with Robbin Keating Clark: Creating a path toward independence.
  • July 13,2021: TBD: Incorporating my wants, dreams, and desires in transition planning.
  • July 20, 2021: TBD: Self Advocacy
  • July 27, 2021: Closing with Robbin Keating Clark: Bring it all together!

Iowa and Nebraska are working in collaboration with, National Center on Deaf- Blindness, Helen Keller National Center and State Deafblind Projects in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin
