Nebraska Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers

What are Nebraska Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers?

What You Need To Know About Waivers!

  • If you hear the term “DD Services” or someone tells you to “Apply for DD”, they are talking about Nebraska’s Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers.
  • HCBS Waivers allow the state of Nebraska to use Federal Medicaid funds to provide services to people with disabilities in their homes and communities who would otherwise be served in an institution.
  • Medicaid is a public health insurance program.
  • A person must receive Medicaid to be on a Waiver.
  • Each Waiver has its own eligibility requirements.
  • There is one application for all the Waivers.
  • A person can only be on one Waiver at a time, though they may receive services on one Waiver while waiting for another Waiver to become available to them.

The Waiver Facts!
